Small vs Big

What effect would a small donation, as small as 100rs, have on a mission where we have to give more than 2 lakhs?

The answer to this question: Mission Santosh.

So many times I tried to assure my friends that it is not the amount that is important....It is the thought to help someone that is more important....Still the same question is asked innumerable number of times. But, my answer still remains the same. Right from the time I have been assoicated with Abhaya foundation....from Mission Ajay to the about to be concluded Mission Santosh...The answer is still the same.

More than 25 people responded to my message to help Santosh. Not everyone gave the same amount. It ranged from 100rs to 5000rs. But what is the final outcome? We achieved what we set out to achieve. With the help of Santosh's friends, college management...we could pool out 2 lakhs. How much do you think his college friends have donated each? They didnot get thousands and thousands of rupees from a single person. Everything we did just added upto the required amount. But even if some 50 or 60 people did not respond thinking like in the above question....what would have happened? The amount would have fallen drastically.

These umpteen examples that I state here is not just for clarification....It is to bring out the fact that together we can achieve miracles. There is never a question of small amount or big amount. Every contribution helps. Every donation counts. It is our will to respond to the need of others that is important. It is our moral status that we are able to empathise with someone who needs some help that is important.

All this has happened, inspite of the fact that I was not able to convince even some of my best friends that it is for our own good, we ought to help others. "Why all this social work at such age? We are not so rich that we can do charity work"..... Heard many of such questions and opinions...

But, I truly believe in one thing:

In life, everybody will realise someday that it is good to help others. Some may realise it early. Some at the later stages. But it will surely happen. I was just trying to help you realise this fact. There is no matter of rich or poor. We need not be Billgates or Warren  Buffet to help others. In our own capacity, we can reach out to less-privileged. We are so lucky to be in a position like this...health, career, education, money...Why not make someone else lucky by giving some part of our luck?

Always,

"Helping hands are better than praying lips"

There are scores of NGOs who joined hands in service with abhaya. One such organisation is Niswartha Foundation with its "Super 60" program. A few details of the program are below: Niswartha Foundation , Uravakonda, Anantapuram Dist, AP   The atlas shrugged its shoulders when it was asked to shoulder the burden of responsibility. With a motto to serve selflessly and to carry the responsibility of improving the pitfalls of society ...

abhaya Hunt The Winter 2020

The 2020 population count was a stellar accumulation of unimaginable numbers. It outlined the total population of the country sweeping 1.3 Billion in numbers. Given the gradual and imminent increase in the population over years we can approximate the numbers to have touched the ceiling limit of 1.4 million  – given the 50 births per minute record rate.      As obvious as it sounds, the census was not only about recording the total population. It counted the total males, females, poor, rich, healthy, sick, young, old, homeless … ah, the homeless. Let’s pause and have a look at what the report has to say about it.    It is defined in the report that the homeless are those who do not live in houses, but rather stay on pavements, roadsides, railway platforms, staircases, temples, streets, in pipes, or other open spaces. There are 1.8 million homeless people in India consisting of single men, women, mothers, the elderly, and the disabled. Let’s put ...

abhaya's lending hand to Surabi Drama Co

All the big and successful business magnates like The Ambani's, Tata's and Birla's have one common mantra for their success, yes it's a generation run business, to be precise it's a third-generation run business. If a third-generation business can reach such great heights, we can imagine what Fifth-Generation artists would have achieved.    I take the opportunity here to introduce the famous Surabi Drama Co of Hyderabad which was set up in a mere garage by    Vanarasa  Govinda Rao  in 1885 which is now the only surviving example of Company Theatre.   In the initial stages, it started with Puppet shows and now more than 240 families are a part of the play. The plays are now been directed by Padmashri Rekandar Nagesh. All Surabhi productions are large-scale mythological and musical plays, based on stories from the  Ramayana , Mahabharata and Shrimad Bhagavatam.  To know more about the great works of Surabi Group, click  here     ...
